I.M.P. Chairman Seth Hurwitz has pleaded guilty to solicitation of a prostitute after he was accused by police in Montgomery County of attempting to hire a massage therapist for sexual favors.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Hurwitz, who is 61, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Thursday and was sentenced to a suspended one-year prison term and was fined $500.

Hurwitz lead I.M.P. which owns both the iconic 9:30 Club and recently opened Anthem in Washington D.C. and operates the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.

In August, Hurwitz was accused of making several inappropriate comments to a massage therapist while visiting a massage parlor and then trying to solicit the massage therapist to provide sexual services in his home.

Subsequent to his arrest, Hurwitz announced he was stepping back from his day-to-day leadership role at IMP while he addressed his legal issues.

In an email to his staff obtained by Billboard, Hurwitz wrote: “As anyone who knows our concert and venue businesses well is aware, I don’t have much to do with actually running them these days, but to eliminate distraction, I’m stepping aside for the time being until the matter is resolved.”

“Believe it or not, I truly believe that this will end up being a positive if painful lesson and make me a better person,” he added.
