IHeartRadio Fest To Return To Vegas – But Not Las Vegas Village

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Music festivals are reportedly returning to Las Vegas after the tragic events of the Route 91 Harvest festival, but the iHeartRadio Music Festival plans to move its outdoor events to Las Vegas Festival Grounds Sept. 22

Last year’s similar events were held at the 15-acre Las Vegas Village, the site of the One October shooting spree that left 58 people dead.  Organizers plan to honor the victims and the families of the tragedy during the iHeartRadio event, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The outdoor event is again expected to complement the indoor performances held at the T-Mobile Arena. No performers have been announced yet; last year’s festival included Khalid, Bebe Rexha, Flume, Migos and Little Mix.

The festival grounds hosted the Rock In Rio festival in 2015, which drew less than half its projected audience and did not return to the site, which, like Las Vegas Village, is owned by MGM. In fact, MGM once tried to lure the Route 91 Harvest festival to the festival grounds, according to the paper. It also hosted the ACM Awards Party for a Cause, which drew 17,000 to the fairgrounds in April 2016 for concerts tied to the ACM Awards show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Officials have not yet specified how they will use the Village property although live entertainment remains one of the options considered by MGM Resorts, according to the Review-Journal.
