LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Amoeba Music in Hollywood has released an official statement indicating that it will ‘NOT’ be closing its doors as was previously reported by a handful of news outlets following a zoning vote by Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday.

The vote approved zoning changes that make way for the demolition of Amoeba’s distinctive Los Angeles outlet at the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga boulevards, and facilitate the development of a new, 26-story building on the site.

A note posted to Amoeba’s Facebook page read: “You may have read some new articles about the future of Amoeba in LA. Rest assured, we are NOT closing. We are going to be in the current location at 6400 Sunset Blvd for about another year, and from there we are planning to move to a new space in Hollywood. We have several exciting possibilities in Hollywood, and we’ll let everyone know when we have news to share.”

The store, which opened in 2001, was sold in 2015 to real estate developer GPI Companies for $34 million, according to the Times.
