FUKUAKA, Japan (CelebrityAccess) David Morales, Grammy-winning DJ and record producer, was arrested yesterday at an airport in Japan on a drug smuggling charge after authorities found a small amount of ecstasy in his carry-on luggage.

Morales, 58,  was an influential DJ in the 1980s and ’90s, working with acts like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and Eric Clapton, winning a Grammy for producing Carey’s “Fantasy” in 1996 and a Grammy for Remixer of the Year in 1998. He has denied the allegations saying, “It’s not mine. [Someone] might have tried to frame me,” according to the Sankei Shimbun newspaper.

Five granules of MDMA, weighing .3 grams, were found, according to law enforcement. Possession of ecstasy can carry a fine of up to $26,000 and a maximum jail sentence of up to seven years, according to the Daily Mail.

It was unclear if Morales was released in time to attend a scheduled event in Tokyo last night.
