(CelebrityAccess) – Former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts has canceled his remaining summer tour dates after suffering a “mild stroke” over the weekend.

A statement posted to the Dicky Betts Band’s website read: “Yesterday, after describing to his physicians certain post-stroke repercussions, [Betts] was strongly advised to give himself more time to recuperate. Doctors have assured Betts that after three to five weeks he will be 100 percent recovered and can resume his touring schedule.

“Dickey really regrets that he can’t be there for his fans,” added manager David Spero, “but he has to take care of his health first.”

Betts is hoping to work with promoters to reschedule dates in Wallingford, CT, and in Hampton Beach, NH. He is expected to return to the stage November 1 at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, GA.
