Punk Band Diarrhea Planet Calling It Quits

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — The six-piece Nashville-based garage punk band Diarrhea Planet announced that after 8 years, they are hanging it up.

A spokesperson for the evocatively named band made the announcement via social media, writing: “It’s with a heavy heart we announce our final shows. We’ve had an incredible run largely thanks to all of you incredible people, but we’ve decided to bring it to a close. It has truly been amazing to share our music with y’all onstage and off.”

The band’s final two performances are set for Sept. 7 & 8 at the noted Nashville rock club Exit/In.

The band, composed of singer-guitarist Jordan Smith, guitarist-singer Emmett Miller, guitarist Evan Bird, guitarist-singer Brent Toler, bassist Mike Boyle, and drummer Ian Bush, is best known for the energetic and rowdy live performances.

Diarrhea Planet released their first EP as a DIY effort but soon landed a recording contract with Infinity Cat Recordings, which led to the release of their first LP, “Loose Jewels” in 2011.

Their follow-up, 2013, “I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams” helped to propel the band to fame and landed them a number of key festival plays, including Bonnaroo and Governors Ball that year. Their third and, apparently, final studio album “Turn to Gold” dropped in 2016.
